Eternal Love
A(n) English sonnet
How vast – if “vast” could be a fitting way to speak of something edgeless, without border – was Love in timeless union ‘ere first day, ‘ere Triune God shaped chaos into order? What was – and is, and is to come – it like to have no need for secrets’ shading shield? Can I – hurt soul and wound-er both alike – yet dream of all my scars and victims healed? How foreign now it seems, such love-transcendence for which the Triune Maker first designed creation, ‘ere that siren independence beckoned, making shipwreck of mankind. O God, perfect triune Love’s Communion, remake us! Bid at last our hearts’ reunion!
