Seen But Not Known

Part of AprilPAD 2026
I still remember the admission
(he thought it was an explanation, not an admission)
that our welcome had qualifiers
(should I really have been surprised, given how I had to continually qualify?)
when he said: "you'll know them when you see them,"
(an unintentionally wry use of the word "know")
"they'll have their jacket puffed out, or they'll look shifty."
(perhaps like someone who's not sure they're able to enter a church?)
This was the reason we needed to lock the doors and arm ourselves
(not like during the pandemic, when briefly closing would've been a sin)
because we were afraid that we would know the unwanted type of visitor
	when we saw Him.

To be paired with Matthew 25:31-46
